A Day in The Life of Barbara M

Hello! My name is Barbara Mutedzi. I am big on mindset and on performance. Both need great time management, planning and setting goals aligned with your purpose. You will notice that these and more, are topics I explore with you, on our Amphy platform. Let me share with you how my days and weeks are structured and why this is all so important for a life lived on purpose. The more we live a life of purpose, the higher our vibration and the more aligned we are with all those things that make us who we authentically are. Welcome to my daily and weekly schedule!

Daily Schedule

I divide my day into 3 main parts, that is, morning, day and evening routine. Each day in my calendar is carved according to these 3 parts. Everything in the morning routine is dedicated to my self-care, self-acknowledgement, and centering. My life purpose is to help people harness and control the power they have within themselves, to live their life purpose. For me to be able to do this, I need to be fully ready, fresh and present for others. When I take care of me, I am able to create the safe and non-judgmental spaces needed, for others to step in, contribute and flourish in all the dimensions they want and need to.

Knowing your life purpose is the most fulfilling thing that any one of us can do. It makes decision making, productivity and mindfulness easy and accessible, whilst positively contributing to our daily lives. For a fulfilling life, align everything in your calendar to your purpose; then leave gaps for further and continued exploration of the many and gloriously different ways you can achieve your purpose.

I look forward to helping you with your time management needs as we help you figure out your purpose for a life lived on purpose.

The beautiful thing about being a human being, is that we are dynamic creatures, growing and changing with every minute. We are not the same people we were 5 years ago, and we will not be the same people in another 5 years, so why not cultivate the way we change for a more fulfilling and purposeful life. This is what and why I teach. Following is a step by step morning, day and evening process that I follow, so I can be on point for when we meet:

My Morning Routine

3:00 am – 5:30 am

I wake up at 3am every morning, have a glass of warm water with a slice of ginger and lemon in it and then run a bubble bath. I light candles for a soft and warm ambiance great for early mornings as we slowly start the day on a calm, relaxed and centered day. As I am taking this healing and cleansing bath, I set an intention for my health and my work, using breathing techniques to start the centering process.

My baths vary from 30 to 45 minutes. I don’t rush them as this is a calming time guided by my intuition – a technique that all of us need to cultivate for a highly connected attitude to life. This is all-important to me, especially seeing that my purpose is to help others. To be fully present in the work of helping others, I need to be centered and ready for them. Self-care is so important for all of us who teach, coach, lead, serve and or look after others. It is our duty to be fully present when others need us.

After my bath, I dry off and wear comfortable clothes. Three main things happen thereafter; not necessarily in the same order. I interchange them depending on which makes sense to me for that day. The end goal is that all three do get done as they feed into the other. These include reading, meditating and yoga. Reading at this time in the morning should be aligned to something that is spiritually or inspirationally inclined to feed your soul in the mornings. Neuroscience tells us that our brain waves are stronger in the morning and therefore a great time to take in what is good and aligned with what we want to achieve.

Mindful Mediation and Yoga, both for self-practice and as a yoga teacher and instructor, are important to me. For yoga, emphasis is not on the poses, but more on transitioning from pose to pose, paying attention to what I am thinking and saying to myself as a way to self-analyze my self-talk and re-direct it as needed. Mindful meditation helps bring all elements together as I sit down in a centering space in silence as I listen to my heart, my mind, and my body.

5:30 am – 8:00 am

All the above occurs until about 5:30am when my alarm clock goes off. If it is a day where I am going for a run or a walk, I leave at 5:30 and am back by 8am; if it is a day where I am exercising at home, I do yoga for 30-60 minutes, then go outside into the garden to do my weight and super-stretch exercises. If it is a day of rest from exercise, I typically read for longer and or start my day a little earlier. Rest is important to allow your body to recover and strengthen.

8:00 am – 9:30 am

Between 8 and 9:30am, I am showering (if I went out to exercise), preparing for my work day and having breakfast and doing a bit of light housework. Getting ready for the work day includes taking out my laptop and all the work material I need for the day, putting away my exercise clothes and making sure they are ready for tomorrow, and refilling my flask so I can have more lemon and ginger water during the day. My work day starts at 930am, and at this time, my phone is also set to start receiving calls until 5pm.

9:30 am – 5:00 pm

At about noon or 1:30pm where I take a break. The break includes napping, lunch, sitting outside, reading, sometimes watching something on my computer, responding to messages on my phone and a bit of social media time. I have learnt to listen to my body about what it needs. This break is anything from 2 to 4 hours. Late afternoon I work for a good 2 to 3 hours until early evening when I begin my evening routine.

With a purposefully-driven day routine like this, what is left is to reflect on, is what worked, what needs more attention and to close off the day. The evening routine is all about winding down and preparing for tomorrow. Winding down includes anything from resting to reading and sitting outside with a cup of tea. It includes packing up for the day, supper and sometimes recreation. Preparing for tomorrow includes confirming all of tomorrow’s appointments, putting out my exercise clothes and making sure I have all the resources I need for the next day’s work.

Weekly Routine

Over the years, I have created a weekly themed routine that fits with the energy of my body. The morning, day and evening routines as above, are incorporated into each day of my week, regardless of the theme set for the day.

Sundays and Mondays are what I call my Admin Days. What I have noticed is that on these days is that I have fewer distractions, fewer emails and messages coming through and so a perfect day to sit by my computer and work on all administration-related duties including writing articles and preparing my social media content for the next week, month or quarter. I still follow the daily schedule as above. Mondays are also and are currently dedicated to Amphy classes.

Tuesday is my Errand day allocated to running errands as needed. In the mornings, I pay bills and go grocery shopping as needed. I dedicate the afternoons to fun coffee meets with friends, family and protentional business partners. Late afternoons are dedicated to visiting my financials and making sure that I have automated all those bills that can be automated, that my savings and investments are in order and that I explore any other investments for the future.

Wednesday and Thursday are back to full work days. I have workshops and coaching sessions with clients during the day. All prepared for on the Admin days. Friday mornings are for closing off the week; making sure that all weekly activities are completed, as I put together the following week’s calendar. The day and the week close at 3pm on Friday. At this point, I switch off my phone until either Sunday or Monday morning. Saturdays I am off all day.

Conclusion

I appreciate that the weekly routine varies for a lot of people depending on the type of work one does and one’s goals. However, I would encourage you to adopt a morning routine for yourself, then channel your daily routine to align with your purpose, whilst making sure your evening routines are all about closing off your day, as you prepare for the next one. Make sure you have time off during each day and during the week and do test different things out to see what schedule works best for you.

One of my courses on Amphy is on creating time to figure out your life purpose. I use the MUTEDZI 3D protocol to help you Define with clarity what your life purpose is, and from there, we Design clear roadmaps that will get you on track, whilst cultivating and Displaying habits that will help you stay on track.

I look forward to helping you with your time management needs as we help you figure out your purpose for a life lived on purpose. In the meantime, stay well, stay blessed and keep in touch.
