5 Trends to Grow your Instagram in 2023

Personal BrandingSkillsSoft SkillsTop List

Everyone is talking about how Instagram has changed a lot in the past year, specifically how it’s no longer just a photo-sharing app but a video app – specifically when it comes to Reels. So, whether you sell a product or a service, or you are a creator or an influencer, staying on top of the trends is very important.

In this blog, we’ll look at how to build an authentic Instagram growth strategy that brings in new followers and keeps them around for more than a hot minute. After reading this article, you will learn what’s trending and how to apply it to your niche and personal brand.

Here are 5 new trends to consider when trying to grow your account:

Create Original Content

While people like Alex Hormozi, Grant Cardone, and Tai Lopez have a certain style to their video editing – in a word, “messy”, it has helped them, and many others in 2021 and 2022 get more views and grow their following.

But when something becomes popular, and everyone hops on the ‘trend train’, it then becomes mainstream, and then becomes basic, and then finally the market becomes saturated. So, if you are still creating videos with this type of format – it’s time to stop.

Try using your own fonts, colors, and words to help you create a style that is unique to you. You need to have your own individual brand of style. You can create one on Canva, or if you’re not sure where to begin, you can use my brand style guide

Stop Following Creators

It’s easy to look at the big creators and feel inspired to replicate their content. But the problem is we’ve seen it before, and so our brain has come to identify that content with that known name already. We may not be able to articulate it, but somewhere in the recesses of our minds we’re thinking that it’s not authentic.

It’s important that we make real connections with people in order to have real engagement and ultimately real influence. Humanize yourself. Information is a commodity – anyone can google anything but the reason why someone going to follow you, is because of the stories that you share about your life, your interests, your values, and simply put, how you live your life.

People crave individuality, and so your brand needs to be special to you – whether you are creating a video, story, reel, or even a single static post or carousel.

Short-form videos are a great way to showcase your lifestyle blog things outside of your niche. Think of what you share in your stories – the behind-the-scenes, your morning routine, how you plan your work week. Use Headphone and Microphone Accessories

Instagram is the fourth most used social media platform which means there’s lots of competition. There are currently 1.38 billion active daily users there.

Try using a headset and microphone – even if you don’t have a podcast. Yes, that’s right. Statistically, videos showing people with these accessories perform better than those videos without them. These are the actual headsets that I personally use from Bose because they have a noise-canceling feature that I really need as someone with Hyperacusis. My microphone is the Blue Yeti and I use an Auphonix Pop Filter so I don’t annoy people by speaking too closely into the microphone.

Search Online for inspiration, and Even Utilize ChatGPT

If you’ve watched any of my reels about digital marketing websites you need to know about, then you’ve heard me mention ChatGPT. Basically, it’s an online virtual assistant – artificial intelligence used to help you prove your authority and stand out with current information. It stands for Generative Pretrained Transformers and was just introduced in November 2022. It automatically answers questions based on written prompts. It not only helps to provide you with content but it will help you to improve your workflow and productivity.

As a side note, it can also make product recommendations, give you recipe suggestions with your leftover ingredients, it can tell you jokes, be your personal tutor, help with homework, coding tasks & explanations, provide you with tips to manage stress, improve confidence, suggest books, music, and movies based on your preferences and can even write code.

Don’t forget, you can always simply use Google or YouTube for inspiration for your content.

Create a Community for Your Followers

Make real connections with your following. To do this, you need to show your real personality, add positive value, create your own unique community, and fun experiences that people will be interested in in order to stand out and separate you from the rest of the pack.
